I want to give this woman a hug…
So a California mayor is being issued a curfew because her city council believes that she stays at her job too late. According to some sources, mayor Blanca Figueroa often stays at her city office until 2 or 3 am in order to complete her work.
I have mixed feelings about this news. First, I admire the mayor. I think it’s really great to see a city leader who cares so much about her job and her constituents. On the other hand, I feel really sorry for her. I wonder what her personal life is like since she works so hard? I hope that she has a family and friends–people who she can spend time with a relax with. With last thought in mind, I kind of agree with the council’s decision (although I’m not convinced they were motivated by altruistic interests while making it).
Somehow this mayor kind of reminds me a little of myself. I can sometimes work around the clock unless stopped. Thankfully, I am often stopped–by friends and family who oftentimes do not take no for an answer. I hope these overbearing people in my life remain.
